At Tiny Homes Perth we believe in maintaining the Great Australian Dream of home ownership. From residential to rural living, this dream is within everyone’s reach with a Tiny Homes Perth home.

Whether you simply need affordable living, or want more space for a teenage retreat, granny flat or farming accommodation, Tiny Homes Perth offers you “small homes, BIG ideas”.

Simon Joiner was following his passion when he entered the modular building and construction industry. In starting Tiny Homes Perth, Simon has pursued this passion further, combining his knowledge of the home building industry with an added twist, to provide “small homes, BIG ideas”.

A devastating event can change the future. The Tiny Home Evolution was founded by a group of Americans supporting those who lost their homes in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (2005), giving them a place to call home.

Further to the global financial crisis (2007, 2008), America again found hope and inspiration in using Tiny Homes to accommodate those who could not afford a conventional home.

Beyond these events, Tiny Homes have been used throughout the world, not only as a means of affordable living, but as weekenders, granny or teenage flats, art studios, ‘glamping’ or farm accommodation.

Driven by his passion for the Tiny Homes culture, Simon Joiner (General Manager / Owner) established Tiny Homes Perth, where he uses his experience of over 35 years in fabrication and the modular homes industry to support this new and affordable housing market.

An array of materials are used in the construction of a Tiny Home. At Tiny Homes Perth all elements of the homes are built on our premises. Construction of the trailer chassis is based on the weight of the building to allow ease of towing, while the frame is constructed of steel to ensure marriage to the chassis.

Tiny Homes Perth have designed their own feature cladding, ‘Inspire clad’. This contemporary cladding can be fitted vertically, horizontally or even diagonally. The use of Colorbond(c) incorporates great colours and a prolongs the life span of a Tiny Home.

Q What size are Tiny Homes?

The size of a Tiny Home is based on weight; Australian rules allow a Tiny Home to be constructed up to 3500kg if being towed by a traditional vehicle (recommended), to a maximum of 4500kg if a suitable towing vehicle is used.

The weight of a Tiny Home is paramount, so its design and size is worked out around this. The most economical size of a Tiny Homes Perth home is 2.4m wide x 6.8m long, with a roof apex at 3.3m.

Q What are Tiny Homes made of?

At Tiny Homes Perth, we make our chassis rails from a pre-galvanised tube, inclusive of the draw bar and webbing of the floor support.

Wall frames and trusses consist of light-weight steel, with a feature portal frame welded to the chassis to provide rigidity.

External cladding comprises a combination of materials, from corrugated iron to weather board cladding.

Internally, the options are endless and may include flush-finish walls and feature lining board.

Cabinetry and finishes are constructed using traditional building methods.

Q How safe are Tiny Homes?

Because Tiny Homes are considered caravans, they are regulated as such. Under the Australian Standards there are stiff regulations in place with regard to both the construction of caravans and traditional homes

Construction of the chassis is rigid, while all Tiny Homes come with electric brake-away systems, offering braking during travel as well as a brake lock-up system if the trailer disconnects from the towing vehicle.

The traditional building materials used in the construction of a Tiny Home have been tried and tested over many years.
