Mowamba River Lodge

The estate presents two self-contained apartments with separate entrances, along with a charming Tiny House. The North Wing apartment features three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, and a lounge. Meanwhile, the South Wing apartment offers two bedrooms, complete cooking facilities, a dining area, and a lounge. Additionally, this apartment provides full accessibility for individuals with disabilities, including bathing facilities. Our Tiny House is a secluded one-bedroom retreat, equipped with all necessary amenities for cooking and bathing. Mowamba River Lodge welcomes pets (by arrangement) and is suitable for families and guests with special needs, situated in the Snowy Mountains.

Nestled on the banks of the Mowamba River (also known as the Moonbah River), a mere 10-minute drive from Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains, our lodge resides in a tranquil valley encompassing 120 acres of pristine bushland. Manicured gardens surround the lodge, offering scenic views from all rooms. Guests can enjoy the picturesque panorama of one of our two dams, the casting pond, and the Mowamba River, located just 150 meters from the lodge.

During the summer months, the lodge is an ideal destination for fly fishing enthusiasts, featuring stocked dams, a casting pond, and multiple access points to the Mowamba/Moonbah River. Guided tours are available for those seeking to explore further into the local fishing areas, as well as basic training for beginners. Mountain bikers and hikers can also relish in the vast array of trails available in Thredbo or Mt Kosciuszko. The lodge’s convenient location, only 35 minutes from the mountain resorts, provides year-round accessibility to all the Snowies have to offer.

For leisurely days spent within the lodge, we offer an array of amenities, including a newly constructed covered skate ramp, a gym, a casting pond and dams, nature trails, farm animals (Highland Cattle, Pet Sheep, Kangaroo Joeys, and Chickens), the Mowamba River, and a cozy fireplace in the North Wing Apartment, as well as a small log burner in the South Wing Apartment. Breezy balconies overlooking the grounds provide a serene setting to enjoy a glass of wine within the tranquil sanctuary of the lodge. All rooms and the central area are equipped with hydronic heating to ensure warmth during the winter months, and each room offers access to a spacious verandah with seating, allowing guests to savor the refreshing breeze. The South Apartment features an accessible ramp for those requiring handicap access.

The property thrives with domestic animals (Highland Cattle, Sheep, Kangaroo Joeys, and Chickens), as well as a diverse range of wildlife, including Kangaroos, Wallabies, Deer, Wombats, Echidnas, and a plethora of bird species, including Wedge-Tailed Eagles.

Despite its serene and secluded ambiance, the property is a mere 10-minute drive from Jindabyne township. It is situated alongside the Snowy Mountains’ premier trout fishing stream, the Mowamba River, also known as the Moonbah River. On-site, we have purpose-built fly fishing facilities, including a casting pond and a well-stocked dam. These surroundings are perfect for hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and a host of other activities. In winter, the snow resorts of Thredbo, Perisher, and Charlottes Pass are easily accessible, providing opportunities for snowboarding, skiing, and various winter pursuits. Should transportation be required, we are pleased to offer transport to and from the snow fields.
