Genuine innovation often arises from necessity, a lesson learned by Backspace Living’s founder, Trent Robinson. After following the traditional path from apprenticeship to home construction and renovation, Trent pondered a fundamental question: Why, when we aim to enhance our homes, do we default to either building an entirely new structure or renovating the existing one? Why not create a fresh, separate space?

Upon deeper contemplation, Trent discovered immense satisfaction in guiding clients through a delightful journey to craft a space that resonated with their preferences. It was during the completion of his first ‘granny flat’ project that he recognized the unexplored potential residing in a crucial part of the home – the backspace. This realization led to the inception of Backspace Living.
